Our student-priced apartments are located in the heart of Helsinki, only a stone’s throw away from Kamppi metro station. Whether you are on your way to the City Centre Campus, Viikki or Otaniemi, you will be at your lectures in a flash! All our apartments come equipped with a fixed Internet connection, providing you with a hassle-free remote study experience.
Both x Home is owned by the Student Union of the University of Helsinki. This means we know first-hand what students need, and we guarantee all our tenants a welcoming place to live. Our rental agreements also entitle you to Kela’s housing allowance.
Living in our apartments
Student apartments are available to all higher education students. Full-time undergraduate students at the University of Helsinki have preference for accommodation. Your student status is checked before the rental agreement is signed (you need to provide a study certificate before you can sign the agreement), before the agreement is renewed, when your right of occupancy is checked and when you do other business with us.
What kind of apartment can I apply for?
- Living alone – shared apartments (separate for men and women), studios and two-room apartments
- Couples – family studio or family two-room apartment
- Families with children – family studio or family two-room apartment
You can rent an HYY student apartment for a maximum of five years.
However, if there is good cause, we may grant you an extension of up to six months, provided your studies end within said extension period.
Historic student accommodation
Domus Academica, located in Kamppi, has been providing students with accommodation in central Helsinki since 1947. Its excellent location ensures services within easy walking distance and great transport links. The complex has extensive services for tenants. Various student organisations belonging to the student union also have facilities at Domus Academica. The building has a lift. Please note: Pets are not allowed in student apartments.
